After the sale of an aquaculture equipment patent in 2002, I booked a trip to the Prague music show along with my late friend Sørn Venama of Palm Guitars, Amsterdam. At the show I started an association with Akord Kvint from Luby in the Czech republic, which resulted in Kvint making the wood elements of the S1 (body, neck and back brace) and shipping them to Vidlin where they were finished, assembled, fitted with electronics, and finally set up for delivery to top class musicians around the globe.
By 2004 the 2nd generation S1 e-violins were on the market along with our own transducer and using the new MISI rechargeable preamp.
We also started development of Skyinbow Pure Acoustic Pickups.
The name Pure Acoustic was coined by Garry Byers, MD of Kneeling Strings, at a dinner at Messe Frankfurt 2005. Our largest customer at the time, Kneeling Strings were a very forward looking US distribution company. Unfortunately their parent company, St. Louis Music, sold out to the Chinese Conglomerate, LOUD and Garry left to work for Ned Steinberger at NS Designs.
